The Board of Yakima County Commissioners (BOCC) seeks a Director for the County’s Technology Services Department. The Director will provide oversight of approximately 30 technology professional employees, tasked with keeping County business technology running effectively to better serve the public. This position is responsible for ensuring that information technology, as a critical, strategic business tool, is correctly aligned and implemented within Yakima County. This requires strategic planning, policy and governance development for technology for Yakima County and local governmental agencies that use our services. Advises and consults with the BOCC regarding technology policy, legal, technical and strategic issues. Works to limit county liability with regards to public information, discovery and other exposures (HIPPA, CJIS, etc.). Education and Experience: Bachelor Degree in Information Technology and individual should have ten years of progressively responsible experience in Information Technology management, strategic planning and administration, including four years in a senior managerial capacity in the Technology field; or any combination of experience or training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Required: 4 years of senior management experience in the Technology field; Valid WA State Driver License (or the ability to obtain one) and proof of insurance; and Successful completion of criminal background investigation and general employment verification. Preferred: At least four years’ experience in governmental finance/budgeting, contract development and project management.
