Washington State University is seeking a highly motivated Human Resource Assistant to join our team in Pullman, WA. Under general supervision, the Human Resource Assistant will perform a variety of duties in support of Human Resource Services. This position will apply established human resource guidelines, rules, policies and procedures to classified, exempt and/or academic staff. Review, develop, and maintain accurate records and correspondence. Assist clients, maintain electronic and paper files, produce reports, gather and organize documentation, and coordinate schedules.
Required Qualifications: Three years of office experience including at least six months of experience in a human resource or related setting OR equivalent education/experience. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Demonstrative experience providing customer service in person and/or over the phone. Demonstrated skills in attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in human resource functions such as benefits, recruitment, classification, compensation, medical leave coordination, training and development, and/or employee/labor relations. Experience presenting group orientations and/or trainings. Experience providing clerical administrative support to multiple individuals. Demonstrated ability to coordinate a variety of tasks at one time, with frequent interruptions. Pullman is a dynamic center of higher education, research, and culture located in a region called the Palouse. The region is home to two land grant universities, Washington State University and the University of Idaho located just eight miles to the east in Moscow, Idaho. Washington's second-largest city, Spokane, is located 75 miles north of Pullman.
