Job Description:

Applications are being sought for a Marketing/Sales Executive-in-Residence in the WKU Gordon Ford College of Business (GFCB) Marketing Department.  This position will have a start date of August 2025.  The successful candidate will contribute to the University's mission through teaching, mentoring students in career preparation, conducting service requirements for the department, and serving as liaison with professional contacts on behalf of the department. This position is eligible for promotion after several consecutive years of service.

WKU is one of a handful of schools in the United States with a Center for Professional Selling, and it is expected that the chosen candidate for this position will help to greatly enhance the Center's mission both in the classroom and with corporate partners.

The GFCB is AACSB accredited in both business and accounting, and currently offers undergraduate majors in eight (8) areas including marketing.  The marketing major has concentrations in Sales, Strategy and Social Media. The department also offers minors in Marketing and Sales, along with a Sales Certificate. Graduate programs include a Master of Arts in Economics, Master's in Accountancy, and a comprehensive MBA that includes a Marketing certificate. The marketing department consists of ten full-time faculty members.


Requirements:

  • Candidate must have a Master's of Business Administration (MBA), or a master's degree with a minimum of five (5) years of business experience.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a sales role.  This experience could be specifically in sales or in a business role involving selling as a main requirement for the job (corporate recruiter; financial planner; business owner, etc.).
  • Candidate must have experience teaching sales in an academic setting or experience in a sales manager role where the training of new employees was a main requirement of the position (please describe training as part of your application packet).
