Communications & Community Engagement Officer
Ukiah Unified School District Communications & Community Engagement Officer Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Communications & Community Engagement Officer is a classified senior management position responsible for developing, planning, organizing, coordinating and overseeing the comprehensive communications program for both internal and external audiences, which includes elements of parent and community relations, media relations, publications, school/business partnerships and community education. The Communications & Community Engagement Officer will manage marketing, social networking, special events, services, programs and other district or assigned parent and community related events.
Essential Duties Include: Develop and provide communication support for the Superintendent; Formulate policies and make recommendations to the Superintendent regarding policies and practices related to public relations and communications; Play a lead role with senior leadership to develop and execute communication plans at the school, department, program, and District levels; Perform duties of the Public Information Officer in the event of any crisis, emergency, or disaster; Develop and implement procedures regarding all district public relations matters, which includes district media relations, community relations, intra-district communications, promotional functions, special events, marketing and selected publications.
Qualification/Requirements Include: Exceptional technical writing skills; Principles and practices of public relations; Methods and techniques of writing, editing, designing and publishing; Professional level software and applications used for publishing electronic and print media.
Education/Experience Includes: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in journalism, marketing, broadcast media, public relations, public administration or related fields; Minimum of five (5) years experience in marketing, community relations, and/or communications required and experience working in community relations or public information or corporate relations preferred; Demonstrated project management skills and abilities; Demonstrated high level of successful customer service with public.
Salary/Benefits Include: $80,000 - $104,530; placement depending upon experience. 261 contract days (incl. holiday& vacation) District health benefit plan includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
