Visual Journalist
The News Tribune in Tacoma, Washington, is looking for a smart, energetic journalist to join our visuals staff. This position focuses on shooting, editing and producing original photo and video content across multiple platforms, including but not limited to our content management system, YouTube and multiple social media channels.
This individual will be required to produce daily and long-term photo and video stories. Visual journalists play a critical role, working closely with newsroom colleagues to tell the most important and timely stories. A strong work ethic, the ability to multi-task and the aptitude to work across short- and long-term deadlines is required.
This is an editorial position with a strong focus on producing quality videos to supplement our storytelling. The producer part of this role could have you working closely with other regional colleagues across the Northwest.

An understanding of audience trends and digital media important.

Ability to quickly edit video using staff-produced clips or aggregated material.

Background in journalism, video and online media preferred.

Experience:

At least 2 years digital journalism experience preferred.

Familiarity with DSLR and professional video cameras, capturing sound and video editing.

Must have reliable transportation. Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance required (at least minimum insurance required for the state in which the employee works).
This position will be based in Tacoma and will report to the Executive Editor. The position may involve working nights and/or weekends. Some travel may be required.
