The successful applicant will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Kamilche Pharmacy within the Squaxin Island Health Clinic. This position dispenses prescribed drugs in a healthcare facility environment, answering questions regarding medications, usage or healthcare concerns. Also responsible for transferring prescriptions, handling incoming physician calls, logging data into the computer. The schedule will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., four days per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned)
- Provide pharmacy services.
- Distribution of all pharmaceutical products, ancillary supplies, and equipment
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy licenses, pharmacy department policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining, organizing and purchasing inventory within the pharmacy.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with the Clinic Providers
- Receive new prescriptions from pharmacy customers and/or Providers for disbursement.
- Perform proper level of clinical monitoring for Health Clinic patients.
- Distribute medications to patients.
- Answer questions and provide information to pharmacy customers on medications, possible side effects and doses.
- Assist patients with questions about over-the-counter drugs and prescription medications.
- Coordinate with clinic staff to improve the effectiveness IHS RPMS/Electronic Health Records.
- Enter data about patients and medications into the database to maintain pharmacy files, charge system and inventory.
- Responsible for invoices, reconciliation and deposits related to the pharmacy.
- Coordinate billing of third-parties such as insurance, tribal CHS and WA State DOH for pharmacy customers.
- Receive payments from patients and 3rd parties for medications.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Recent inventory management experience
- Accuracy in mathematical calculations including pharmacokinetic dosing
- Strong organizational, writing and math skills required.
- Respond professionally, in person and on the phone, to patients and medical providers in tense and occasionally hostile situations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in small community environment.
- Complete work independently and in a team environment.
- McKesson Pharmacy software experience preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must have valid Washington State License to practice pharmacy and two years recent clinical pharmacy experience. Also:licensure must be without restriction by Health Professions Quality Assurance Board (HPQAB).
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
License to practice as a Pharmacist in Washington State required. Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
