Deployment, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of active network gear: switches, routers, firewalls, etc.

Network address assignment, assignment of routing protocols and routing table configuration and configuration authentication and authorization.

Plans, defines, designs, develops, coordinates,  and implements voice and/or data communication systems.

Troubleshoot/problem solve; must be able to quickly and correctly diagnose/correct problem and communicate the solution to either co-workers or end-users effectively.

Maintains records and prepare periodic and special reports of work performed.

Creates and maintains logical, physical and protocol maps, and backups of all equipment and cabling layouts, configurations parameters, and network documentation standards and procedures.

Server maintenance and troubleshooting, including software security patches, operating system updates, performance tuning, log analysis, maintaining application updates and bug fixes.

Validates new technologies proposed for use and meet with vendors to hold product demonstration.

Provides training to technical support staff in various voice and/or data communication network functions.

Develops external access policy and guidelines.

Monitors and maintains network stability.

Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.

There are no supervisory responsibilities in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
MA in relevant field and three years of experience OR BA in Computer Science or Information Management Systems and five years experience as network administrator or related field; OR ATA and seven years as network administrator or related field; OR High School Diploma/GED and nine years experience as network administrator or related field.

Must have knowledge of and be proficient in MS Windows operating systems.

Must have strong demonstrated grasp of network security, appliances, infrastructure, and concepts.

Candidates with experience using VMWare, Hyper-V, 3CX, Dell EMC, and/or Unifi products will receive extra consideration.

Candidates with Certification in related subjects, such as a CCNA, CCNP, MCE, MCA, and/or CompTIA will receive extra consideration.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Washington State Driver’s License; proof of insurance.
