Snohomish County 911 Emergency Communications is a 9-1-1 police, fire and medical public safety communications center serving Snohomish County which processes emergency and non-emergency calls to 43 police and fire agencies. Snohomish County 911 is one of the busiest dispatch centers in Washington State.
We are seeking candidates to fill a full time Security Systems Engineer II position in our Everett, WA regional communications facility.

This position is subject to after-hours (weekends, nights, holiday) on-call duty for urgent technical support requests and after-hours emergency responses for critical system problems. The Security Systems Engineer must be able to report into SNO911 within one hour of receiving a request for urgent technical support needs.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Security Incident Response Leads incident response including steps to minimize the impact of and conducting a technical and forensic investigation in to how a breach happened, extent of damage and steps to prevent future incidents.
- Network Systems Security Evaluates plans, engineers, implements and oversees aspects of network (wired and wireless) and security operations connecting servers and desktop machines including but not limited to firewalls, routers, switches, and other network devices and tools.
- Network Monitoring Administers, monitors, and engineers hardware, software, and network systems design to ensure optimum performance and security. Oversee, document, reconfigure and update these systems to accommodate growth and change consistent with agency needs.
- Other Duties Other duties may include supporting the technical team in any day-to-day operations as well as long term projects on various systems.
Qualifications
In addition to having at minimum a current CCNA Switching and Routing certification, a combination of education and related experience sufficient to provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities may substitute for education requirements.
- Two-year degree or certificate in a related technical field and
- Three (3) years full-time experience in computer networking, network administrator, systems engineer, or systems programmer.
- CISSP and/or CEH certification is a plus.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Local, wide area and wireless data communications networks and the ability to troubleshoot these networks, including all network hardware and appliances (routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, wiring, etc.), with an emphasis on Cisco routing, switching and security technologies.
- System administration as it relates to security, performance tuning, resource control and utilization.
- One or all of the following security frameworks: CJIS, HIPAA/HITECH, PCI-DSS, or other systems security discipline.
- Planning, researching and developing security policies, standards and procedures.
- Current CCNA Switching and Routing certification or higher required.
- Excellent customer service skills required including a positive customer service orientation, with both internal and external contacts.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Due to the nature of this work, candidates are required to successfully pass a thorough, intense and strict pre-employment background investigation.
