Qualifications:
The ideal Distribution Center Manager for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank understands and is passionate about the organization's mission to provide nutritious food and grocery product to those in need in our 16 county service area. This individual will be a vital component of the Operations team in managing over 8 million pounds of food annually. As the Distribution Center Manager, this team member must demonstrate outstanding management, organizational, planning, and implementation skills in order to optimize distribution center practices and develop new distribution center opportunities that support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank's strategic plan. The ability to work in a fast-paced and progressive environment will be the key to success in this role, as the Northeast Iowa Food Bank continually strives to work towards closing the Meal Gap in northeast Iowa.
This individual will possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop a culture based on high-performing and empowered teams. The Distribution Center Manager must have a strong sense of initiative to continually improve the Northeast Iowa Food Bank distribution center.

The responsibilities of the Distribution Center Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee distribution center staff and related functions including product receiving, inventory control and space management, product inspection and sorting, packaging and repackaging, and order fulfillment
- Supervise and empower team members towards the efficient and effective receiving, storage and processing of product while ensuring proper oversight of network receipting, invoicing and reporting
- Manage entire inventory control process including consistent cycle counting and communicate with the Director of Compliance and Operations regarding adjustments and inaccuracies
- Work in cooperation with the Network Relations team and the Operations Manager to ensure the safe handling and equitable distribution of all products to member agencies and food bank programs
- Responsible for product allocation of all perishable product to programs and agencies based on needs, priorities and capacities
- Work closely with the food sourcing team to ensure a consistent flow of product through the distribution center
- Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the Northeast Iowa Food Bank in accordance with AIB and Feeding America standards, in addition to local, state and federal regulations
- Serve on the Food Safety Committee and provide direct oversight within the distribution center for all food safety practices pertaining to product inspection, packaging and repackaging and food storage.
- Facilitate the execution of continuous operational improvement processes through systematic problem solving
- Support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank's special food and fundraising events as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Required:
- 4 year degree with 2-3 years of experience related to warehouse management; combination of education and experience taken into consideration
- Knowledge of and experience with warehouse inventory management software/systems
- Strong analytical skills with comprehensive understanding of key supply chain processes including receiving, inventory control and order processing.
- Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office software
- Culturally competent, ability to work with diverse groups and individuals
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Ability to be certified in First AidPR/AED, ServSafe Food Handling, and HACCP
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Valid drivers license, safe driving record, current vehicle insurance and ability to use personal vehicle for Northeast Iowa Food Bank business.
- Ability to perform physical labor as necessary (standalkove for long periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds, work with warehouse equipment) Preferred Ability to multitask, delegate, and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with non-profit organizations
- Food Safety and Handling experience
- Forklift certification
- Creative and innovative Desired
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management with 5 years of experience in a management role
- Previous experience with bar coding set-up and implementation
