Two positions will be filled by consideration of all applicants to this posting.

 

These vacancies are being posted at both the Clinical Program Therapist 1 and Clinical Program Therapist 2 classification levels, and the classification level will be determined by the selected candidates' qualifications.

 

These positions provide substance use disorder treatment to offenders in the Paradigm Substance Use Disorder Program at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Moose Lake, which includes the following components: security, assessment, education, and therapeutic programming of offenders.

 

These positions have contact with incarcerated individuals.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Clinical Program Therapist 1 (Chemical Dependency):

 

To qualify for Clinical Program Therapist 1, applicants must meet the following qualification: 

 

LICENSURE:

  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure* by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalently qualified to perform alcohol and drug counseling under Minnesota Statute 148F.11.

To maintain employment, the successful candidate who is eligible for LADC licensure must possess a temporary ADC permit within 60 calendar days of the first day of employment and current LADC license within the probationary period.)

 

Clinical Program Therapist 2 (Chemical Dependency):

 

To qualify for Clinical Program Therapist 2, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

 

LICENSURE:

  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure* by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalently qualified to perform alcohol and drug counseling under Minnesota Statute 148F.11.

AND

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

 

  • One year of experience providing behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy, to clients with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders;

 

OR

 

  • Master's degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling/Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family, Counseling, or a related Behavioral Health/Science program.**

 

** If your degree is in a related Behavioral Health/Science program not listed above, you may be asked to provide an unofficial college transcript.

 

Applicants who meet the above qualifications for either the Clinical Program Therapist 1 or Clinical Program Therapist 2 will be further evaluated based on the following:

 

  • Knowledge of substance use treatment methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of professional, legal and ethical standards; best practices; and community standards of care.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication, including proficient documentation skills.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills.
  • Basic personal computer skills.
  • Ability to provide substance use treatment; formulate and implement an individualized treatment plan; and develop a continuing care plan.
  • Ability to teach a psycho-educational course; effectively function within a multi-disciplinary team; exercise sound judgment; and demonstrate appropriate professional boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Bachelor's or advanced degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling/Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family, Counseling, or a related Behavioral Health/Science program.
    •    Current licensure in Minnesota as a LADC at time of hire.
    •    Current Minnesota licensure as a LP, LPC, LPCC, LICSW, or LMFT.
    •    Experience working in a correctional/secured environment.
    •    Experience treating clients with co-occurring disorders.
    •    One year of experience providing clinical behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy, to clients with substance use disorders.

 

Physical Requirements

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy.

 

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy.  This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

 

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
