Analytics Editor-News
Come work with a team that makes a difference every day in the fast-moving world of local news. McClatchy is hiring two detail-oriented data analysts to join our growing News Analytics team, which provides actionable insights and analyses that inform audience and content strategies and tactics in our 30 newsrooms.
You’ll need a strong blend of technical, analytical and communication skills and an ability to juggle multiple projects at once, from breaking news situations to long-range planning. A deep understanding of local news is a huge plus, as you’ll spend your days doing deep dives into audience and content data that will inform our journalism.
The ideal candidate is part journalist, part analyst and part project manager, able to track multiple experiments in multiple markets and to identify key metrics that determine the success of each.
In partnership with the rest of the team, you’ll examine trends and advise on the best path forward using data-driven research. You’ll routinely create performance reports that include strategic insights, content highlights and actionable findings for McClatchy’s News leadership and editors in our newsrooms.
Successful candidates will be able to work both independently and as part of a team and will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities. This is a remote position, so a familiarity with virtual communication tools such as Google Meet and Slack is a plus.
Our journalists help readers across the country live their best lives by providing breaking news coverage that keeps people safe during natural disasters, watchdog reporting that leads to reform and advice on how to stay safe, including during a deadly pandemic.
