Job Summary:

The School of Science at Marist College is pleased to invite applications for part-time, Adjunct Instructors in the Department of Biology, beginning August 2022. We are seeking adjuncts to teach the below courses:

General Biology II (BIOL 131L)

  • TR 5:00-6:15 PM for lecture & T 6:45-9:30 PM for lab
  • MR 12:30-1:45 PM for lecture & R 3:30-6:15 PM for lab

 

Topics in Biology course (BIOL 101L)

  • TR 3:30-4:45 PM
  • MR 2:00-3:15 PM
  • MW 5:00-6:15 PM

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An M.S. in Biology or closely related field.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates and evidence of excellent teaching or potential to develop into an excellent teacher.

 

Essential Functions:

The Biology Department seeks faculty committed to undergraduate teaching excellence at a comprehensive liberal arts institution that supports both liberal arts and professional programs. The candidate’s sole responsibility will be teaching a freshman-level course for science majors in General Biology focused on the scientific method, the chemical and cellular basis of life, energy transformations, DNA structure and replication, protein synthesis, and cell division. Two sections of the course are in need of instructor(s), including one that meets for lecture M/W 5:00-6:15 pm with lab R 2:00-4:45 pm, and one that has lecture M/R 12:30 pm and lab W 2:00-4:45 pm. The maximum class size is 24 students and the same students are in both lecture and accompanying lab sections. The successful candidate will join a department characterized by a strong sense of community in which students are the central focus and faculty who are both accessible and approachable. Classes start August 29, 2022.
