Research Associate/Research Scientist
The Moritz lab of the Institute for Systems Biology is seeking a qualified Research Associate or Research Scientist. The ideal candidate would have experience in mammalian and pathogenic bacterial cell culture within a BSL2 environment. The growth of bacterial and mammalian cell lines and protein chemistry techniques to achieve purified protein extracts using protein purification techniques is a requisite. Experience in aseptic techniques and control of contamination is also a requisite. Knowledge of biological mass spectrometry-based proteomics including liquid chromatography, computational identification of large data sets is preferred. Statistical analysis of data produced would be advantageous. We are looking for individuals with creativity, lateral-thinking, good communication skills and the willingness and ability to work as part of a larger multidisciplinary team of scientists.
Our current research directions include quantitative mass spectrometry for biomarker discovery and protein function analysis. Our projects include wellness, infectious disease, cancer, and aging biomarker development in cells, tissues and blood, and complex mixture fractionation & enrichment. In addition, we have at our disposal an array of mass spectrometers, including varieties of Thermo, Bruker and Sciex instruments for quantitative analysis.
Research Associate positions require a BS in biology, chemistry of a closely related field plus at least 2-4 years of directly related experience. Research Scientist positions require a PhD.
