Chair of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health

 

The Chair provides inspirational and practical leadership for the department’s research, teaching, and service mission and reports directly to the Dean of the School of Public Health-Bloomington. The Chair will advance and build a robust research profile for the department; explore and develop new programs, curricular options, and modalities of teaching; cultivate excellence in teaching through mentorship of faculty; support faculty scholarship; encourage interdisciplinary collaborations within the school and across campus; actively assist with fundraising activities; and represent the department on external committees.

 

SPH-B welcomes applicants currently holding a tenured associate professorship or full professorship with demonstrable expertise in environmental and occupational health or a closely related field. The following minimum qualifications are required:

  • A doctoral degree in environmental and occupational health or a related discipline (e.g., environmental engineering, environmental microbiology, environmental science, industrial hygiene, public health, toxicology, virology).
  • Status as a tenured associate or full professor at an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Outstanding record of teaching and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Success in obtaining significant levels of extramural grant support as a corresponding principal investigator from national funding agencies such as NIH or NSF.
  • Solid record of scholarship in refereed journals.
