This is a high-level staff position and may be assigned complex duties in any therapeutic justice program operated by the County.  The Superior Court serves as the administrative entity.   The position is responsible for overall administrative coordination, management and supervision of therapeutic justice system functions and processes. 

The presiding Grays Harbor Superior Court Judge.  The Grays Harbor Therapeutic Court judge provides supervision for this position.
  
This class specification reflects the general concept and intent of the classification and should not be construed as a detailed statement of all the work requirements that may be inherent in a position.  The Therapeutic Justice Program Coordinator works independently under the supervision of The Grays Harbor Therapeutic Court judge and may perform work in one or more program areas with demonstrated knowledge, or ability in at least one area.
 

Examples of Duties

 

  1. Assisting in policy development.
  2. Planning, coordination, administration, or implementation of County therapeutic justice programs.
  3. Developing community education programs.
  4. Providing support and coordination to local advisory groups.
  5. Preparing and implementing plans for integrated justice system / behavioral health programs.
  6. Providing a variety of information and assistance to agencies and community groups, as necessary.
  7. Researching and preparing grants / funding applications.
  8. Preparing reports, documentation, and statistical analyses.
  9. Preparing contracts and memoranda of understanding.
  10. Contract monitoring functions.
  11. Providing supervisory oversight for the services and supports delivered to County therapeutic court participants.
  12. Implementing quality assurance.
  13. Networking with counterparts statewide and representing the County on statewide work groups or committees.

 

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
 

  1. Master's Degree or B.A. plus five years' experience in criminal justice social services or a related field.
  2. Demonstrated ability to communicate in written and oral form.
  3. Valid Washington State Driver's License
  4. Training in evidence based Motivational Interviewing and Moral Reconation Therapy techniques.

Knowledge of:

  1. Principles and practices of supervision, including planning, staffing, selection, training, coaching, directing, coordinating and evaluating.
  2. Evaluation, counseling and other treatment procedures for substance abuse problems.
  3. Available community resources for individuals with substance abuse problems.
  4. The fundamentals of the criminal justice system.
  5. Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to the area of assignment.
Skill with:
  1. Inputting data into management information systems.
  2. Grant writing and grant administration.
  3. Microsoft Word and Excel or equivalent software products.
Ability to:
  1. Prioritize, plan, organize and oversee assigned programs.
  2. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  3. Think analytically and produce complex financial analyses clearly and competently.
  4. Maintain effective communication with the public and other employees, using tact, discretion and courtesy.
  5. Understand and execute written and oral instructions and apply guidelines to widely varied situations while meeting time-sensitive deadlines.
  6. Evaluate work systems and program operations and develop and implement corrective action to resolve problems.
