Position Summary:

 

Gannon University, a Catholic university, has a collaborative and dynamic faculty that prepares motivated students intellectually, professionally and personally for leadership roles in their careers, society and church. This full-time, 12-month tenure track Chair position for the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program and Speech-Language Pathology Program in Erie, PA begins July 2024. The Communication Sciences and Disorders undergraduate program in Erie, PA prepares students to become health care professionals following the Liberal Studies core courses and the prerequisite standard courses for admission to a graduate program in speech-language pathology. Both 4 year and 3+2 pathways are offered for undergraduates. The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program is a full-time 62 credit curriculum. The theoretical and practical professional curriculum consists of advanced courses, research, and clinical experiences relevant to the discipline and align with the certification requirements for the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. The SLP Program is equipped with advanced technology for voice and speech disorder analysis. Interprofessional collaboration is available with other health professions in the college, including radiologic science, OT, and PT. New SLP clinic space allows supervised student learning to occur with members of the community experiencing disorders of speech, language and/or hearing.

 

The Master of Science degree program in Speech-Language Pathology is a Candidate for Accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. A supportive clinical community allows a positive environment for teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities.

 

Located on the shore of Lake Erie, Gannon offers access to the beautiful beaches of Presque Isle, and opportunities for boating, skiing, biking and other outdoor activities. Required Qualifications:

 

To be considered, candidates must provide evidence of a minimum of 3 years of full-time higher education experience, including effective leadership within a CSD or SLP program, with faculty and students. Successful teaching methods and productive scholarship as a core faculty member in a SLP program for at least five full-time years is required. The successful candidate must have an academic doctoral degree in a relevant discipline of speech-language pathology, minimum rank of assistant professor, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence and be eligible for Pennsylvania SLP licensure.
