Professional Accountant 1 - 534022

Job Summary:

Supports the goals and objectives of the Office of the Controller by assisting with reconciliations. Reviews and provides assistance with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Prepares accounting transactions as needed.

  • Reconciles and maintains various accounts monthly as assigned. Reconciles accounts, records, reports and journals as assigned.
  • Participates in banking activities as assigned. Will have access to banking portals for the review and approval of wire payments.
  • Assists in the month-end and quarter-end close process, including journal entry preparation, variance analysis, and reconciliation preparation/completion as assigned.
  • Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts as assigned. Prepares financial and/or auditor statements, schedules and reports as assigned.
  • Maintains accounting records for special accounts and projects. Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains accurate financial records and prepares clear and accurate reports for informational, auditing and operational use.
  • Reviews and posts ID Transfer requests, including correspondence with university departments verifying supporting documentation is adequate in the support of the transactions being requested for transfer.
  • May serve as a liaison to the university community for specialized issues as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related business field to include a minimum of 6 credits in Accounting; OR four (4) years of appropriate experience to include one (1) year of accounting-related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP/GL system is a plus.
