Position Purpose
Provide technical and professional research support to the Director of Institutional Research and Decision
Support to inform the college on its achievement of academic goals and student outcomes and opportunities to
enhance educational effectiveness. Design, develop, implement, maintain, and modify complex research
projects that involve data collection, data management, data extraction, cleaning, and configuration, data
analyses, and reports.
The Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support works to improve educational effectiveness through
supporting the assessment of teaching and learning, the evaluation of educational practices and services, and
the ongoing reporting of demographic and evaluative data for institutional decision making and external
reporting. The office’s work includes three major areas: enrollment, retention, and graduation data; assessment
in support of institutional improvement, state accountability, and regional accreditation; and research to
support institutional evaluation and planning.
This position’s scope of work encompasses assessment, accreditation, internal and external reporting, and
accountability to meet federal, state, and community needs. Research Associates report to the Director of
Institutional Research and Decision Support.
This is a full-time, overtime exempt position on the Olympia Campus of The Evergreen State College. This
position is an “at-will” appointment, exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules and the Fair Labor
Standards Act overtime requirements.
Salary and Benefits: $4,696 – $5,635 per month of full-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and
vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life, and disability insurance package; and a
tuition waiver program.
