Position Purpose
Under direction of the Associate Vice President for Human Resources, the Equal Opportunity Officer position exists primarily to support The Evergreen State Colleges commitment to equal opportunity within the College’s educational and workplace settings. The incumbent is responsible for the Colleges non-discrimination policy and programs, including facilitating informal resolution of complaints or reports of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation at the lowest possible level and in a cooperative rather than adversarial spirit; investigating complaints as warranted under the institutions Non-discrimination and Title IX Policies and preparing investigation reports with findings and recommendations; interpreting relevant state and federal laws and providing College policy guidance on issues of non-discrimination; maintaining a civil rights incident database regarding the experience of the institution in matters related to complaints and investigations; make recommendations for resolution and remedies to prevent recurrence; and develop and deliver related training.
The incumbent is also responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the College’s affirmative action plan.
This is a full-time, overtime exempt position on the Olympia Campus of The Evergreen State College. This position is an “at-will” appointment, exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules and the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime requirements.
Salary and Benefits: $6,251 – $8,127 per month of full-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life, and disability insurance package; and a tuition waiver program.
