Educational Specialist
Position Purpose
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, this position is responsible for maintaining and building positive relationships with participants, families, and partner schools, as well as promoting high school academic achievement and post-secondary success with program participants. The incumbent develops and teaches college success courses and plans career and cultural workshops. These responsibilities require strong organizational abilities and coordination of student workers and temporary staff, as well as coordination with other programs and organizations like outreach, colleges, universities, community-based organizations, social service agencies, and other Evergreen programs and offices. The position operates primarily out of the partner high school in Tacoma, Mount Tahoma High School, and includes options for hybrid/remote work.
Evening/weekend availability is required for planned events, which is developed in advance as a team. This position works within a team environment and is a significant contributor to college access partner collaborations within the partner school as well as a consistent encouraging presence for UB Scholars along their educational aspirations.
This is a full time, overtime eligible project position at The Evergreen State College. This project position is grant funded by a U.S. Department of Education Upward Bound Classic grant through May 31, 2027 and is dependent on continued federal funding. This position is exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules.
Salary and Benefits: $4,263 – $4,448 per month of full-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life, and disability insurance package; and a tuition waiver program.
