Position Purpose
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of College Access Programs, this position is responsible for advising a caseload of students and coordinating the after school and weekend programming. The Upward Bound target high schools are located in Lakewood and Tacoma, Washington. This position promotes high school academic achievement and post-secondary success for program participants, particularly in the STEM fields. This requires a student-centered approach, strong organizational abilities, and collaboration. Coordination with other programs and organizations, such as non-profit organizations, colleges, universities, businesses, community-based organizations, social service agencies and most importantly, target school staff and administration, is required. Position requires commuting between work sites, including but not limited to Evergreen, schools, agencies, and cultural events.
There are three full-time, overtime exempt Project positions with The Evergreen State College:
- Educational Advisor - Upward Bound (Math Science Clover Park)
- Educational Advisor - Upward Bound (Math Science Tacoma)
- Educational Advisor - Upward Bound (Classic Clover Park)
These positions are grant funded through August 31, 2022 and are exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules and the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime requirements.
Salary and Benefits: $3,317 - $3,616 per month of full-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life and disability insurance package; and a tuition waiver program.
