The Economic Development Department (Monroe-Union County Economic Development) is seeking a self-motivated individual to provide direct program support to the Executive Director of Economic Development in executing the industrial development strategy for the City and County and other related work as necessary. The position requires the ability to coordinate the location process for prospective companies considering all of Union County for the location or expansion of their business operations. Duties include, but are not limited to: maintains and updates the database, website, and scorecard for prospects, consultants and other allies, and their representatives, etc.; develops and maintains social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.; assists with organizing, administering, and coordinating site visitations with prospective companies; travels to companies located outside of area in an effort to negotiate relocation; assists with presentations to Board of Directors and consultants of prospective companies; assists the Executive Director of Economic Development with trade show activities to ensure awareness of County’s attributes; attends and actively markets Monroe and Union County at various national meetings involving corporate real estate executives and site consultants; assists with development of articles to appear at strategically correct times and the maximization of press coverage; assists with organizing special events and obtains event sponsors; assists the Executive Director of Economic Development in preparing prospect packages, utility estimates, press releases, etc. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have the ability to work with geographic information system (GIS) program as well as web-based programs, like Salesforce. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in economics, planning, communication, marketing, or related field, and considerable experience in sales and business management. Must possess an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina. Salary grade 19; salary range $48,714 - $75,546.
