Vice President of Finance and Administration

 

The Boston Architectural College (BAC) invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President of Finance and Administration (VPFA).

 

Located in Boston, Massachusetts, The BAC is an independent private institution of spatial design founded as a club in 1889. The BAC’s mission is to provide excellence in design education emerging from practice and accessible to diverse communities.

 

The BAC is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) and is comprised of a steady and growing enrollment of 750 students and approximately 100 staff members. This includes 25 directors and deans. The BAC also employs 250 adjunct faculty members who are experts and leaders in the design fields.

 

In 2020, The BAC announced its commitment to a bold new vision through its BAC to the Future strategic plan. This comprehensive plan focuses on transforming and expanding The BAC’s future-oriented design programs to serve a greater number and diversity of students in the U.S. and worldwide.

 

The VPFA is the chief financial officer of the college and oversees the financial management and business operations, which includes resource allocations, financial strategy, capital planning, debt management, cash flow optimization, financial information systems, human resources development, facilities, and administrative operations departments. As a member of the college’s executive team and directly reporting to the President, the VPFA is a key advisor to the President on financial and non-financial strategic issues. The VPFA is an enabler for other department heads to accomplish their objectives and thereby provides a collaborative foundation for organizational success. The VPFA ensures the short and long-term fiscal health of the college; oversees the business practices of the college; and ensures that the budget models and practices are in alignment with the college’s resources and strategic plans.

 

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Master’s degree in accounting, business, or related field.
  • Ten or more years’ experience in a financial leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with college faculty, staff, administrators, and governing boards.
  • Experience in operational and strategic planning, policy development, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information in written and oral format to administrative staff, professional colleagues, governing boards, and the public in large or small group settings.
  • CPA a plus.
