Finance Manager, Budget Office

Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Accounting and Budget, the Finance Manager will provide holistic financial management oversight across all funds administered by the University with a particular focus on the campus' $75M+ dormitory fund, university wide programming, university labor expense management, and financial health reporting for various university initiatives and academic program offerings.

This scope of work includes preparation and effectuation of all related budget requests, analysis, reconciliation, reporting, results tracking, and communication with all impacted campus departments as well as SUNY System Administration. The position will execute budget strategy, troubleshoot, problem solve, and provide foresight and recommendations to their supervisor. This position has staff supervision responsibilities. Ensuring adherence to New York State, SUNY, and campus policies and regulations is fundamental to the role.

The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills in a fast-paced environment; a willingness to improve business processes to optimize efficiency; and the ability to lead an assigned scope of work with a results-oriented approach.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Minimum of three years of experience in budgeting, accounting, financial management, or related field
  • Advanced working knowledge of financial systems, business intelligence reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong data and information analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in business, management, finance, accounting, or related field
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Familiarity with New York State and SUNY systems and regulations
  • Financial experience with SUNY or higher education
  • Experience working in a large complex organization
